The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the association is still working on key details. The GCA is actively seeking a suitable window in the cricketing calendar for the tournament. The number of participating teams and other specific aspects of the league are yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues are gaining prominence across India, serving as vital platforms for identifying and nurturing local talent. Several IPL franchises use these leagues as scouting grounds. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra already provide opportunities for players to shine and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
