Vijay Officially Named TVK's Chief Minister Hopeful for Tamil Nadu's 2026 Election

Actor Vijay, now a politician, has been officially designated as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This crucial decision was solidified through a special resolution during the party's State Executive Committee meeting held at the TVK headquarters in Chennai.

According to NDTV, Vijay presided over the meeting. Plans were initiated for a large-scale state conference scheduled for the following month.

Meanwhile, Vijay is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated film, 'Jana Nayagan,' directed by H. Vinoth. The teaser for 'Jana Nayagan' was recently unveiled and garnered positive reactions from audiences.

Actress Priyamani, a key figure in 'Jana Nayagan,' expressed her admiration for Vijay. As reported by Wionews, she shared in an interview, "I’m super excited to share screen space with Vijay… I hope this isn’t his last film."

During a recent appearance at the Kerala Carnival in Ireland, Mamitha Baiju, also a significant part of 'Jana Nayagan,' recounted her conversation with Vijay: "I just asked him whether 'Jana Nayagan' would truly be his last outing.

Baiju further revealed, "Vijay Sir responded by saying that it all depends on how elections go. He also said that we’ll see what happens.”

'Jana Nayagan' boasts a star-studded cast, including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Mamitha Baiju. Vijay's previous venture was the action film 'GOAT,' which, unfortunately, did not resonate with audiences.
