Aamir Khan, the Bollywood icon, is slated to attend the 16th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) this August as the chief guest. This year, the festival will celebrate Indian cinema on a global stage and showcase Aamir Khan's outstanding contributions to the film industry.
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, scheduled from August 14th to 24th, 2025, promises a vibrant program featuring film screenings, panel discussions, masterclasses, and various cultural events. The festival aims to unite filmmakers, actors, and fans worldwide to celebrate the enchanting world of Indian cinema.
Expressing his gratitude for the invitation, Aamir Khan stated, "I'm humbled and thrilled to be a part of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. It's a festival that truly celebrates the spirit of Indian cinema in all its diversity and richness. This year's festival will include a special retrospective of Aamir Khan's films, tracing his evolution as one of India’s most accomplished actors and storytellers. The festival will revisit iconic moments that have defined his illustrious career, from timeless classics to socially conscious dramas.
Mitu added, “He is an artist who has consistently used cinema as a force for social change, and his journey continues to inspire generations. His work on ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is a beautiful example of inclusive storytelling -- filled with empathy, joy, and honesty."
Aamir Khan’s latest film, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, will be screened as part of the festival's program. The film has garnered appreciation for its sensitive portrayal of inclusivity and neurodivergence.
