Jon Lewis is no longer the head coach of UP Warriorz, the Women's Premier League (WPL) franchise announced. The decision concludes a three-year relationship.
Lewis, a former English fast bowler, initially found success with the Warriorz during the inaugural WPL season. In 2023, he guided the team to a third-place finish, before they were defeated by the Mumbai Indians, who ultimately won the championship.
However, the team's performance declined in the subsequent seasons of 2024 and 2025. They finished 4th in 2024 and bottom of the league in 2025. In 2025, UPW struggled with consistency and team balance, hampered by injuries to key players and a new captain, Deepti Sharma.
The Warriorz achieved the highest score in WPL history, scoring 225 for 5 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier this year, with Georgia Voll's unbeaten 99 being a highlight.
During his time with the Warriorz, Lewis also served as the head coach of the England Women's team, performing dual roles. He was appointed as head coach of England from November 2022. He stepped down from his role in March following the team's defeat to Australia in the Women's Ashes.
